Authentic Irish wool with natural character
Bring the warmth and character of native Irish wool to your next weaving project.
This natural cream yarn is made from wool from registered pedigree purebred Galway sheep—one of Ireland’s native sheep breeds. Spun in Donegal, it offers a rare opportunity to weave with an authentic Irish fibre whose provenance can be traced back to the flock.
The 2/4Nm two-ply yarn has a softly textured, characterful finish that works beautifully in natural-toned projects, broad areas of colour and contrasting woven details. Use it on its own for a calm, understated piece, or combine it with coloured and textured yarns to explore different effects on your Rocket Loom.
The yarn is supplied with a small amount of spinning oil still in the fibres, as is traditional for yarn prepared for weaving. This helps it move smoothly through the warp and reduces catching or snagging on the loom. Once your weaving is complete, gently wash it to remove the oil and allow the wool to bloom, becoming softer, fuller and more beautifully textured.
Each cake contains approximately 100 metres of yarn and weighs approximately 50g, giving you plenty of yarn for backgrounds, stripes, patterns and small woven projects.

Finishing your weaving
Gently wash the finished piece in lukewarm water with a suitable wool wash. Avoid rubbing or agitating the wool. Rinse carefully, reshape and leave flat to dry. Washing removes the spinning oil and allows the natural wool fibres to soften and bloom.
